Customer information & service overview

Whitespace Crew App Transition

The new Crew App replaces the existing application used by operational crews. The Crew App and the required platform upgrade are included within your existing Whitespace contract at no additional licence cost — a structured transition service prepares the platform, validates readiness and supports go-live.

Introduction

A safe, structured move to the new Crew App.

The Crew App represents a significant step forward in usability, performance and long-term platform capability. Moving operational teams across is an important change event — Whitespace provides a formal transition framework to ensure it lands safely.

Operational continuity
Safe and consistent crew adoption
Controlled go-live execution
Minimal disruption to live services

A single coordinated go-live

All in-scope devices, users and crews move to the new application together on an agreed go-live date. This ensures operational consistency, reduces risk, gives clear support ownership and enables faster, more controlled adoption. All devices must therefore be fully prepared and ready ahead of the agreed date.

Approaches that aren’t supported

  • • Phased migrations
  • • Staggered rollouts
  • • Depot-by-depot deployments
  • • Parallel operation of old and new applications

Historical jobs remain on the current system — the Crew App applies from the agreed go-live date onwards. There is no migration of historical operational job data.

Transition service options

Two ways to transition.

All customers complete the Mandatory Technical Transition. Customers who prefer a more supported rollout can also choose the Fully Managed Transition.

Option 1 · Required for all customers

Mandatory — Technical Transition

Ensures the platform is technically upgraded, configured and validated for Crew App go-live.

  • Environment upgrade and validation
  • Crew App configuration alignment
  • Migration of templates, rules and permissions
  • UAT smoke testing support
  • Technical go-live validation
  • Technical cutover execution
  • Limited technical stabilisation support

Outcome: your platform is technically ready for Crew App go-live. Transition planning, communications, training, device readiness and post-launch adoption support remain the customer’s responsibility (a standard enablement pack is provided).

Option 2 · Fully managed

Fully Managed Transition

Includes the Mandatory Technical Transition plus structured transition management and coordinated go-live delivery.

  • Everything in the Mandatory Technical Transition
  • Dedicated project management
  • Structured transition plan, milestones & stakeholder coordination
  • Risk and dependency management
  • UAT coordination and issue management
  • Go-live planning and readiness management
  • Crew & administrator train-the-trainer sessions
  • Coordinated cutover and structured hypercare
  • Adoption and performance monitoring

Outcome: a lower-risk transition, with Whitespace managing planning, coordination and go-live delivery.

Additional rollout support

Under the Mandatory Technical Transition, customers remain responsible for device rollout and deployment activities.

Under the Fully Managed Transition, Whitespace coordinates device readiness and go-live planning, however physical device rollout, procurement and ongoing device management are not included within the standard pricing.

Where customers require additional rollout assistance beyond the standard Fully Managed Transition, this can be discussed and scoped separately depending on operational requirements.

Pricing

Per module · per environment.

Mandatory Technical Transition is required for all Crew App deployments. Fully Managed Transition includes the mandatory work plus structured delivery management, planning, customer coordination and go-live support.

Devices & scope

What’s required — and what isn’t included.

Devices & technical requirements

All in-scope devices must:

  • Meet minimum supported hardware specifications
  • Run a supported operating system version
  • Have the Crew App deployed via your device management solution (or approved provisioning method)

Whitespace will provide documented device standards and requirements. Under the Fully Managed Transition we coordinate device readiness planning; under the Mandatory Technical Transition, device rollout remains the customer’s responsibility. Failure to complete device readiness ahead of go-live may delay transition timelines.

What’s not included

  • Device purchasing or ordering
  • Hardware replacement
  • Ongoing device management
  • Long-term device support
  • Migration of historical operational jobs
